Curriculum Introduction

  • Curriculum of the School are based on the 'Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide'(2017). Along with diversified, systematic and inspirational games and activities, our programmes focus on children and teach children with activity learning courses, programme studies, and whole language teaching, thereby, to help them lay a good foundation for their future studies and growth. We believe that our programmes can also help to enhance children's all-round development in the domains of ethics, intellect, physiques, social skills and aesthetics.
  • The school continuously observe and assess children's growth and regularly make relevant reports.
  • The school will further provide parenting supports for parents through talks and parenting courses.

Curriculum Features

Through diversified and enlightening play exploratory activities story-based approach, ‘Leap!’ the body education, project study as forms of pedagogy to implement the balanced, integrated and spiral program. Our curriculum stresses child-centred approach to provide safe, healthy, systematic, balanced and enriching learning environment through developmentally appropriate by age, culture and individuals, curriculum to build strong foundation of abilities, good learning attitudes and living habits.

Whole Language Pedagogy

The school implement whole language pedagogy to develop children's listening, speaking, reading and writing capabilities. Using Chinese and English story books, children's reading capabilities, interests, and habits are nurtured by relating stories with real experiences and themes to integrate languages, early mathematics, nature, and daily living, art and creativity, etc.

Children's Project Inquiry activities

The School implement child-centred inquiry-based project learning through exploration, interviews sharing, information collection, and cooking activities, etc. Children's knowledge, skills and dispositions are enhanced. Through different experiments and contextual learning, children develop their active inquiry, social skills to initiate communication with people, and enhance their critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

Emotion education

The school stress children's emotions education by providing environment for growth and teachers-children relationship filled with love, trust, safety, and happiness, stable daily routines and patterns for rest and activities, and by building children's sense of security, self-understanding and responsiveness to self and others' emotions and by fostering children's positive self-image and attitudes towards learning and living.

Sensor-motor and Perceptual-motor activities

Through play, daily life learning activities, cooking, and physical activities supplemented with the set of 'Sensor and Perceptual motor Parent-Child homework' published by Early Childhood Services of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals to cover development of gross motor, fine motor, tactile vision, auditory senses, etc. The school promote multi-sensory and hands-on learning and enhance sensory acuity and differentiation. Also, children are nurtured in their emotions, attention, control over body functions as well as foundation of cognition to form a good basis for future reading, hand-writing, and logical thinking.

Special Early Childhood Education services

The school provides 18 places of integrated programme in the Kindergarten-cum-Child Care Centres for children with special learning needs. A total of 18 the service is delivered by professional special early childhood practitioners through individual assessments, tailor-made individual learning plans, early learning experiences, and home training. Speech therapists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists will also provide on-site services to these children to ensure their growth and learning in an appropriate and accepting environment to develop their potentials.

Enrichment Programme

 

Children Fitness Programme

Base on the importance of exercise to the physical development of children, the school arranges children to carry out various physical activities every day, and regularly bring children to the park, and cooperates with professional fitness coaches to develop children gross motor and fine motor through fun games and enjoy the sports.

Language Enrichment Programme

In order to increase children exposure to English, we engage Native-English Speaking tutors for kindergarten classes weekly to enjoy English stories, sing English songs, and play English games, etc. Children can naturally be immersed in English learning environment to gain interests and confidence to express in foreign languages.

Interest Classes

Happy Bee

In 2007, we formed the "NT 120th Happy Bee Group" unit in Hong Kong Girl Guides Association. Receiving professional trainings and scouting, children recognized team spirits and senses of responsibility to families, friends and community.

Tung Wah Group of Hospitals support services – 'Pre-school rehabilitation services – Sunshine Kids'


Aims:
To provide early interventions for children with special needs in our nursery school, to support their caretakers, and to consolidate their studies and growth.

TWGHs' Parents Academy


Thanks to the generous support of the HSBC 150th Anniversary Charity Programme, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals launched a five-year Parents Academy in October 2016. Based on the belief of 'Learn for the Endless, Love unlimited', Tung Wah Group of Hospitals provide developmental and preventive parenting education to parents of over 65 TWGHs' kindergartens, nursery schools, and primary schools. Also, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals adopted a cross-community, cross-sectoral, and cross-media new model to help parents and their children to establish positive parent-child relationships.

The school are one of the partner schools of Parents Academy. We provide parenting education courses which are based on the themes of 'parent-child relationships' and 'emotional education' to our parents. We hope that parents can learn more in the joyful and challenging parenting journey by cooperating with us.

Whole and Inclusive School Empowerment ('WISE project')


The school began to participate in the 'WISE project' which is led by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and funded by the Simon K.Y. Lee Foundation in 2016.  The school School-based policies are formulated and school-based support services developed to help children with individual learner differences and diverse learning needs and mainly focus on children who need minor special learning or development needs. Psychologists, well-trained teachers, occupational therapists and speech therapists have collaborated to identify and support children and teachers. Social workers have also hold parenting education workshops to enhance their knowledge and interaction with children.
